Comprehensive and Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning

Some dental professional liability cases cannot be adequately evaluated by examining an isolated procedure.

Areas of review include:

  • Diagnosis and prognosis

  • Appropriateness of proposed treatment

  • Treatment sequencing

  • Alternative treatment options

  • Coordination of periodontal, implant, restorative, orthodontic, and other care

  • Surgical-restorative planning

  • Long-term maintainability

  • Timing of extraction and implant therapy

  • Risk-benefit assessment

  • Whether treatment was appropriately indicated in the context of the patient's overall condition

A technically successful procedure may still raise questions regarding whether it was the appropriate procedure for the patient.
